Long avocados are usually better than round avocados because they have small seeds and a thick flesh at the stem. Round avocados usually have large seeds. But round or long does not determine whether an avocado is good or not.
Choose avocados that are evenly soft. Avoid avocados that are soft to the touch, as they are rotten or no longer have a good flavor, or avocados that are unevenly ripe, which are often forced ripening.
A good avocado is one that is easy to peel, you just need to peel it lightly to separate the skin from the flesh.
Avocados only ripen one to two days after being picked from the tree. When you buy an avocado, don’t put it in a rice bin or plastic bag, just put it in a basket, leave it in a cool place, the stem facing up, the avocado will slowly ripen. If only one fruit is ripe, the remaining ones in the basket will also ripen.
The signs of ripe avocados are very easy, you just need to lightly touch it and feel that the whole fruit is soft, the stem is also soft. You should not put avocados in the refrigerator, it will easily lose its smell and nutrients quickly.
