The Internet Reacts When Kamala Harris Shares A Funeral Photo Of Jimmy Carter With A Notable Exclusion

Vice President Kamala Harris posted a picture at Jimmy Carter’s burial, but it has drawn criticism for leaving out a particular past and incoming president.

President-elect Donald Trump was absent from Harris’ post, but he joined the other four current presidents for the burial on Thursday in Washington, D.C. In the photo, Harris, President Joe Biden, and past presidents Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton are seen covering their hearts during the event.

The picture, which was released on Saturday, did not include Trump or Melania Trump, the incoming first lady who was seated next to Obama.

“President Jimmy Carter loved our country. He lived his faith, served the people, and left the world better than he found it,” the social media caption on the VP’s official accounts reads. “President Carter’s many contributions will echo for generations to come.”

After the two faced off in the 2024 presidential election, Trump’s absence was immediately noticed by Instagram followers, but it was unclear if this was done on purpose.

A remark that reads, “Best photo crop of the decade,”

“I immediately laughed when I saw this image. I love a good cropped photo,” another user wrote.

The Trumps were also left out of a set of pictures from the funeral that were posted on X Thursday by the Carter Center, which was established in 1982 by former President and First Lady Rosalynn Carter.

Representatives for Trump, Harris, and the Carter Center have been contacted by USA TODAY for comment.
